Stuff!

Put my Christmas tree up!

I'm pretty proud of myself, especially the strategic placement next to the Fight Club poster. Works well, I think. Looking forward to the holidays actually (not that its ever really a surprise when it comes to me) as I'll be off for a staggering 10 straight days, most of which will be spent in Cape Breton!

I'm slacking in watching Christmas movies/specials. I've only managed to take in a viewing of Charlie Brown so far, therefore, I need to really pick up my socks. If anything, I need to watch Christmas Vacation and Scrooged very soon. I'm dying to watch ol' George Bailey but I already have at least two viewings scheduled.

I've also got a pretty poor start on my Christmas shopping. I only have two out of six gifts bought. I really have to step it up on that front. I've only got about three or so weeks left in Halifax before I head home for the holidays.

I did do something else rather festive - attended the Holiday Parade of Lights in downtown Halifax last night. Not sure how well this photo translates to the blog but it's a Charlie Brown float! Large versions of the colorful cartoon characters themselves - complete with ridiculous sized heads! Despite the fact that it was insanely cold out, we all still had a pretty great time.

I also attended a Halifax Mooseheads game. They lost in dramatic fashion but it was still a pretty great game! Mooseheads came from behind and took the Drakar all the way to the shootout; pretty exciting stuff.

On the book/reading front, I've started 11/22/63. I'm loving it so far as it had what was probably the coolest method of time travel I've ever seen. Everything seems to be set up for the rest of the 700 or so pages I've got ahead of me so I'm ready to commit to it.

It's been a while!

Hey! It's been a while since I updated this thing. Let's bring you up to speed!

I completed my goal of reading 50 books in 2011 and I'm pretty proud of myself. It looks as if I may be on pace to hit 65 or so, at least I hope so. Thanks to my resurgence of interest in graphic novels (and my ability to read 'em super quick, yo) I'm upping my challenge to 75 books in 2012. I am pretty sure I can accomplish this fairly easily as I'm calling 2012, "The Year of Stephen King" ** patent pending **. I'm going to try to read about 20 of his books alone and that includes finishing the Dark Tower series - finally.

Last Monday I took in An Evening with Kevin Smith. I've been a fan of this guy going on close to 10 years now and have immersed myself in everything he does from books, to graphic novels, to movies and most recently, podcasting. The guy can do no wrong in my book, constantly hitting me with an endless barage of new material. Show went off without a hitch and was glorious from beginning to end. No complaints from this guy!

I took in another concert back in October. Saw Matty Good perform for the 2nd time. He opened with one of my favorite songs, "While We Were Hunting Rabbits"; something I'm told he rarely plays live. Aside from a crazy loud person behind me who felt like she was trying to destroy all hearing in my right ear, the show was excellent. Matt played a decent set with little to no interaction with the audience (which I believe is his M.O.).

Oh, it's getting close to Christmas and I would be lying if I didn't say my tree wasn't already up. Hey, don't get mad at me! I seriously only have like a month in my apartment with my tree until I venture into the land of confusion, Cape Breton. Besides, I can do what I want. Pretty excited to head home actually. I miss my nephew like crazy and I can't wait to see him!

Also, I'm one month closer to this movie.

That is all.
