WWE threw together a 3 disc set featuring some of the best high flyers in the history of the business; kind of like a mix-tape. While some of the matches are not really representative of the performers best work, there's some quality stuff littered throughout this box set.Hosted by Josh Matthews, the DVD features an introduction to the performer, a highlight reel, followed by a match. Pretty standard stuff. You also have some short segments called "Sky-Cam" where a WWE superstar straps a camera to his chest and performers his signature move from the top rope. While the idea is cool, it seems kind of pointless. They move so fast that you can't really see anything - which I guess is the point. I could have done without it, is what I'm saying.
I have a rather large WWE library and some of these matches I have a few times already, but the majority are first time home video releases. You have some classics featuring Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, Shawn Michaels and Ultimo Dragon among others. With a line-up like that, how can you go wrong? One of the stranger additions is a 30 minute classic from ECW featuring 2 Cold Scorpio and Sabu. I'm not complaining, the match is excellent. However, they introduce Scorpio as "Flash Funk", his little known persona in WWE rather than the character they showcase in the following match. It's especially strange given that they devoted 30 minutes of run time to a performer who accomplished so little. It was a nice addition, regardless.
Something that irks me is in regards to the packaging. For whatever reason, WWE has decided to do away with DVD inserts. You know, the little pieces of paper that tells you the contents of the DVD. It's frustrating as there is clearly a spot allocated for this purpose, but nothing came with the DVD. I'm always a stickler for stuff like that considering I actually buy the products rather than download it online and burn it to a disc.
Overall, it's a pretty solid release and one I'm glad to have in my collection. The special features are pretty minimal but what can you expect for something like this? More matches? Eh.
