I love this time of year. No, not spring and no, not Easter. It's time for WrestleMania!
The 26th edition of WrestleMania is hitting the airwaves on Sunday, March 30th and I'm as excited as always. This year's card looks stacked from top to bottom. You've got my childhood idol, Bret "Hitman" Hart returning to in ring action against 64 year old Vince McMahon and the anticipated Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels rematch
Basically, the main reason I'm excited for 'Mania is that it gives me an excuse to feel like a little kid for 4 hours. I've been a professional wrestling fan for the better part of 20 years and WrestleMania is a wrestling fan's Christmas. I watched my first WrestleMania at age 6 with my father on a Saturday morning. As I sat on my living room floor, it was Hulk Hogan taking on The Ultimate Warrior. I had no idea who either of those guys were but to me - it was so cool. The Warrior looked like a certifiable maniac so obviously he instantly became my favorite. Looking back, the match wasn't the greatest but if it didn't exist, I'm not sure I would have been drawn to the "sport" as much.
This will be the first 'Mania since 2006 that I'll get to watch with a big crowd, so I'm pretty excited nonetheless. Around this time of year - I tend to plow through my 85 DVD WWE library (videos I've amassed over a period of 8 years) and watch as much WrestleMania stuff as possible. It gets me in a good mood for the show - it also raises my expectations to insanely high amounts - which I've yet to tell if its good or bad.
The only thing that upsets me about this year is that I was legit supposed to go. Ash and I made plans to hop on a plane and fly from Fort McMurray, Alberta to Phoenix, Arizona for the 5 day trek. Unfortunately, and obviously, this didn't happen. We moved back to Nova Scotia and the plan ride would have been just a bit too much. If I had known a year ago that I had a chance to go and see what is supposed to be Bret Hart's final match - I would've done it.
Ah well, I'll get a fantastic show home on PPV - I have no regrets.
WrestleMania!

Ramblings..
I've been playing a lot of XBOX lately.
** I've apparently been missing out in regards to first person shooters. I've long regarded the Call of Duty series as a "waste of time"; I could never get into them. However, a while ago, I borrowed COD4 from Matty and let me tell you, that was fantastic. It was pretty much a playable movie - which is something that video games seem to be moving towards. I finished it in a few days and turned my attention to COD: Modern Warfare 2 - which is also awesome. I've been moving a litte slower through that one but I should have it finished relatively soon.
** I also downloaded Perfect Dark 64 which is also great. I'm not that big into the single player; I've always been a fan of the multiplayer. I played it for about 2 hours on Wednesday night and enjoyed the hell out of it. I read a review that stated it was similar to "your favorite classic album - remastered".
** I've also been reading like crazy - again. Finished Stephen King's first entry into the Dark Tower series - you can see my review on MD. I recently picked up "Under The Dome". I'm roughly 200 pages in out of 1075, so it's going to take me a while. I've got some good stuff on deck including the second Dark Tower book, James Frey's recent outing (Bright Shiny Morning), the Batman Training Handbook and the 3rd Charlie Parker Connolly book.
** I've been watching a hell of a lot of Classics on Demand. My interest as a professional wrestling fan is still quite strong but I'm finding it harder and harder to enjoy the current product, despite the fact that Bret Hart is an semi-regular roster member. I still catch Smackdown every week but I find it impossible to watch RAW as I just dislike the commentators so much. That being said, I'm really looking forward to WrestleMania 26 regardless, it looks to be a barn burner. I booked the following Monday off of work just so I can enjoy a good night's sleep after the 3 hour + extravaganza. This appears to be the most stacked card since Mania 19. A bad matchup is hard to find.
** Saw Repo Men last night, you can expect a review for the site this week but I'll go on record that it shocked me that maybe 20 people attended this show last night. 20 people for a movie that JUST opened. Crazy. I didn't think it looked that bad - I thought it'd get a few people.
** Ash and I are still planning our trip to NYC. A lot goes into something like this. The hotel prices keep changing, which of the many airports should we fly into, what should we do when we're there? Looks like we're going to go sometime in June - not sure the exact date.
